The Genesis of Change
She was about done.
Exhausted and laid low,
She had given so much.
She had let her blood
Into the open and waiting
Veins of the needy, and
Sometimes the greedy--
For years.
She had done as
The powerless before,
Thinking there was
Not a better choice.
She had attended to those
Who did not know
Her lot in life.
Not having recognized
Her capacity
Or faculty,
They did not listen.
But she guessed.
Probably she knew.
All she had to do
Was to make a move.
Something. Anything.
Manifest. Make it start.
And, by God,
To everyone’s amazement,
It did.

NEW BEGINNINGS- Our theme for the next several weeks
It soon will be spring. Everyone it seems, enjoys this time of the year and for a variety of reasons. Spring is the days of new beginnings and new growth. We all feel good (Well, some with allergies don't always feel good.) with green shoots coming up and growing into beautiful plants. We all enjoy the warmth of the air upon our skin. We look and feel about things differently in the spring. It's all about new beginnings. So in the next several weeks, I will post poems about starting afresh...or maybe simply starting.
The poem posted about is just that, starting out. The woman is starting after a lifetime of being told she is not worthy. She catered to those who took advantage and treated her badly. But she secretly knew her worth. And she made the effort to claim that worth and start out new.
A Week in Victoria B.C. | You may have noticed, the The Causerie has not been posted for a couple weeks. James and Susan Patterson went on their annual trip to Victoria BC, Canada. Above are pictures of that great city in the spring. We had both sun and rain, typical of our Northwest. ⛅️ Thanks, especially goes to the White Heather Tearoom, who served us their, as always fabulous, 'Big Muckle' tea. The White Heather is my all time favorite place for tea! skp |

The first artist that I would like to introduce to you is Melissa Gannon. I have several pieces of her work and they are all quite delightful. Melissa's paintings, with saturated color, are uniquely engaging and always makes the viewer feel happy and hopeful. To be sure, we all need that in our lives!
To quote Melissa, "My work is impressionistic, spontaneous creation using jewel tone colors and descriptive brush work resulting in a painting that you can not only see but FEEL." I invite you to go to her website and see what you think. www.MelissaGannon.com skp
