For Those Who Are Afraid of Their Dark

"There is light just around the corner, just past the window, just within my reach."
For Those Who Are
Afraid of Their Dark

I shall not be frightened
By the night that comes
Before every dawn.

The darkness, which fills
The corners,
Swallows up the
Spaces and reaches
From room to room;

The darkness, which creeps
Along hour by hour
Around the house
And lingers at the door;

That darkness of night
Shall not be the bane
Of my existence.

The veil that protects me
From the unseen evil
And the unclear
Danger, shall not
Be rent in twain.

There is light just around
The corner.  Just past the
Window.  Just within
My reach.

Audio and Comments-

I am afraid of the dark.  I've been working on this fear for years, and thank goodness, I'm much better than I used to be.  It was probably too many episodes of "The Twilight Zone" that caused the problem for me.  In addition, our entertainment is often centered on women being chased or brutalized by men in the dark.  Ugh!  How reprehensible!

We all have our "dark".  Whether it is an irrational fear, or one that comes with truth soaked in it.  The thing is, we can work on it.  We do not need to let our fear control us.  Each of us can make the decision to be the master of our thinking and our feeling.  It's tough.  It might take years to not be afraid of the "dark", but it is worth it.  skp

There Comes a Time

An extremely creative piece of art...a thinker in wood.
There Comes a Time

Unless one is a person of science who
Analyses the heavens or studies
An inch of the earth,
Thinking too hard is
Like the ocean that never
Reaches the shore. Or
The wind that gets lost
In the trees and blows itself away.
It is...

Of no consequence.

Audio and Discussion-

Thinking too much may be categorized as worry.  Or it may be conniving.  Then again, it might simply be trying to make sense of a complicated life.  Who knows for sure?  Whatever the the premise or the definition, there is a time to think and a time to just be.   skp

The World View of the Fool, And His Brother, the Genius

The World View of the Fool
And His Brother, the Genius

From the first to the last,
No breath is inconsequential,
No act futile,
Every move, a masterpiece.

I cannot say that either of these two men is a fool or a genius, but both are obviously intelligent.

Audio and Discussion-

I would not dare to explain this poem.  There are so many ways one might interpret it's content.  However, allow me to say that at times there may be a thin line between a fool and a genius.  At times we might think that any given act is a tragedy, when it is a comedy.  At times, an action might seem foolish, when it is the epitome of wisdom.  When given all the ramifications, it's certainly difficult to tell.  skp

The Largest Tea Party

Supported by the Tea Board of India, the largest tea party to date was in Indore, India on February 28, 2008. Held at the Nehru Stadium, a total of 32,681 guests “sipped their way to a new world record” while listening to live music. All were given the designer tea cups they sipped from as souvenirs.

Organized by the newspaper, the Dainik Bhaskar Daily, this event was more than an effort to break a world record. It was an attempt to show how easily an idea can become reality when an entire community comes together.

The event required almost 980 volunteers and 1320 gallons of tea. Roughly 551 pounds of Brooke Bond Red Label tea was sweetened with an equal amount of sugar.
