Earth in the Fullness of Fall

The colors of Autumn blended beautifully with the calmness of water.
Earth in the Fullness of Fall

When Earth, resplendent in colour,
Is stunning and deep with the
Richness for which we give thanks;
When the fruits of the soil
Reflect the fruits of the Spirit;
When our labour is done and
Rest is nigh;
Then is the time to relish
The brilliance of her fullness and
The time for a very special tea.

Well, when isn't it time for a very special tea?  Hardly ever.  But you do have to agree that autumn with its brilliant colors and cool crisp air or even with rainy days, almost begs for hot tea, scones and a good friend to share it with.  skp

Emails Gone Missing!

PictureSusan, looking off into the distance, possibly for emails.
It happens.  In this age of electronics and technology, it happens more than we want.  It certainly happens more than we understand.  All of us have been in the situation when our computer and email systems have failed us.  Such is the case with me over the last three Causerie postings.

Since November 8th, I have not received emails sent in to me via the 'Reply' button on the emailed version of The Causerie.  (The lost emails were sent to [email protected]). Well, for heaven's sake, there are worse occurrences in life.  But, if you are wondering why I didn't reply, which I always do, that is the reason.

So, until we get this situation cleared up, please email me  at [email protected].  I will answer.  Now, if you are so inclined to resend any emails since November 8th, I certainly would love to hear from you.  If you ordered books during that time, via your email 'Reply' button, then by all means, let me know and I will fill your order post haste.  Just email me at [email protected]

Thank you for your patience and understanding.  Now, I must go have a cup of tea and fan myself.  skp

Winners in the World of Tea

PictureOh, the choices, the choices!
I'm asked quite often what is a good blend or brand of tea.  I do have my favorites, it is true.   But, there are so very many excellent teas available now, it would be difficult to choose what is right for someone else.

Now you can find out what tea is the best of the best.  Here is a link with listings of all the 2014  award winning teas from the North America Tea Championship.  http://www.teachampionship.com

Let me know what you think.    skp

Whether Planned or Unplanned, The Breakaway is Powerful

Whether Planned or Unplanned,
The Breakaway is Powerful

It takes audacity,
Possibly foolishness,
Certainly courage,

To break away from
That which is pressing you
Down or pulling you back.

Some would say, ‘Be careful.’

Others would say, ‘Who cares?’

But, it is yours to say, not
Theirs.
Yours
And those who cheer
You on and those who
Privately
Watch and follow.

Breaking away isn't always difficult or frightening.  It can be fun and exciting, even happy.  Whether scary or enticing, most of the time, however, it is truly powerful.  It defies fear.  It grows courage.  It honors the intention of our souls.  skp

Taking Orders

Picture
Alright, Alright!  I have heard you say, "I want a copy!" or "Save me a copy!"  Unnoticed Moments, my new book of contemporary poetry is here.  The first sales have been made and the reviews are in.  People love it.  I hope you will too.  It is available on my web site, EarleneGrey.com.  You may also email me direct at [email protected]
Just let me know how many.  I will mail or deliver.  We can even meet for a cuppa or better yet, a glass of wine.

To entice you even further, there is a sale going on.  Yep.  You can buy three of any of my books at regular price and you will get a fourth book free.  Can't beat that.  Do I sound like a sleazy salesman?  I sure hope not.  But, you do deserve a good deal.  So, let me know how many and how I should get them to you.  I'll take care of the rest.

Thanks for reading.    skp

Believe it or Not, Pictures of Kitties,  Per Request

Picture
Four kitties in our 'catatorium'. This is why the neighbor's cats stay at our house. The felines are all on heated pads.
Felicitous Grammar

I have four kitties the
Color of marmalade and cream.
Their job is not to scavenge and to hunt,
But to sleep and dream.

They’re orange commas lying
Like punctuation in my house.
There to bring a pause,
To indicate a point,
But not to catch a mouse.

Rarely Pursued, Often Unclaimed

Rarely Pursued,
Often Unclaimed

You may not see it.
But it is there.
Like the stratosphere above the
Clouds.  It circles the Earth
In a vapor of readiness.

It can lower to meet you.  Or
You can lift up to claim it.
It is above
The muck and mire that
Stops you dead in your tracks.

But it is there,
Redemption.

There might be a little too much spirituality in this poem for some.  My apologies if that is the case.  But in reality, even if one is agnostic or atheist, there is still the existence of redemption.  Although it may not be originated by a god, it certainly can be created and distributed among us humans.  Redemption, like forgiveness, is an exchange of good energy for bad.  It is the path to recovery, the promise of fulfillment.   skp

Not for the Collegiate

PictureSusan Patterson reading in Victoria, BC
Not for the Collegiate

How do I write?
In bursts and bunches,
Not in steady streams of
Inspiration, not at certain times,
But in bits of brilliance and
Insight that come in the night,
From wisdom not my own.
Never do I write with rules or discipline
For savvy sophisticates or
For the modern or learned crowd.
No, that’s not the poetry meant for me.
I write what comes in the night.

Discussion-

I smile at the comments about my poetry.  From all over the world, readers and listeners email, telling me how much the words that I send out mean to them.  I am honored to be the writer of "wisdom not my own."

As most of you know,  I did not plan on becoming a poet.  It was never my dream or my bliss.  I started writing what came to me.  I still do.  I walk my own path.  It is not with the literary societies that I mingle.  It is not the poetry clubs that I join.  Those groups have my respect, but it seems that a solitary writing path is best for me and my audiences.

My spelling and grammar is correct.  The words are chosen with care.  I edit for days, weeks and sometimes months.
My writing is usually critiqued by a close group of wise and knowledgeable people who are honest with me.  I work a piece of writing till the hair stands up on the back of my neck, like a dog who is alerted to something important, if not dangerous.  Then I know I am finished with it.    Then I send it out.  skp
