Marilena

Every bloom is worth waiting for.

Marilena

She grew in the shadows,
This plain beauty,
A flower that was
Most likely ready to blossom.

Or maybe she had already opened up,
And no one noticed.  But then
It was difficult to get bright blooms
In the dimness where she was rooted.

Either way, she
Was only
Discovered
When a person of discernment
Ventured down the road
Where she lived and
Noticed the
Glow leaking
From the shadows,
Out of the darkness
Of her cave.

It was then that
Marilena was lifted
Out.

I've posted this poem before.  It was in the spring then as well.  It seems that spring is the time to think about making changes and then maybe acting upon those thoughts, either by lifting our own selves, or by helping someone  lift themselves.    skp

Art for a New Beginning-

As we think about new beginnings, please allow me again  introduce to you  Melissa Gannon.  I have several pieces of her work and they are all quite delightful.  Melissa's paintings, with saturated color, are uniquely engaging and always makes the viewer feel happy and hopeful.  To be sure, we all need that in our lives!

To quote  Melissa, "My work is impressionistic, spontaneous creation using jewel tone colors and descriptive brush work resulting in a painting that you can not only see but FEEL."   I invite you to go to her website and see what you think.  www.MelissaGannon.com skp

Rarely Pursued, Often Unclaimed

"It circles the earth in a vapor of readiness."

Rarely Pursued,
Often Unclaimed

You may not see it.
But it is there.
Like the stratosphere above the
Clouds.  It circles the Earth
In a vapor of readiness.

It can lower to meet you.  Or
You can lift up to claim it.
It is above
The muck and mire that
Stops you dead in your tracks.

But it is there,
Redemption.

Going along with our spring theme of New Beginnings, I offer you this poem.  It is a little more serious than my postings of late, but every once in awhile it doesn't hurt to get serious, does it?  In reference to our theme, many times we cannot start again without knowing that reclamation and recovery is possible.  Redemption gives us that.   skp

The Flowers Were Daffodils

Can you just imagine living in this home, over looking a field of daffodils, reading Earlene Grey poetry?

The Flowers Were Daffodils

He wanted her to notice him.
He sat day after day on the step
By where she passed,
Wanting so very desperately
To talk with her,
To be with her.
She would not notice him.

He set out with an ingenuous plan.
He gave each person who
Passed by his step, a flower. Every day.
He did not miss a soul.
He gave one to her every day as well.
She did not especially notice him.

Flowers to everyone in hopes of
Engaging someone.
A notable effort, indeed.
But after weeks of
Taking the blossoms,
She still did not pay him heed.

Finally he offered her more than a
Flower.  He quietly presented a gift
Of only himself, in the form of
A marriage proposal.

At last she allowed herself
To see him.  To see his efforts.
Who could turn away
Such a suitor?
She took the risk and
Accepted his gift,
Right then and there.

Each year,
To commemorate that day,
He and she hand out
Flowers to strangers.

Aren't daffodils wonderful?  They are probably my favorite flower.  Here is a story where the beautiful blossoms played a primary role.  And why not?  Daffodils make people smile and smiling is one of the most important things we can do, for ourselves and for others.  In the language of flowers, daffodils have the following meanings:    Regard;  Unrequited Love;  You're the Only One;  The Sun is Always Shining When I'm With You.
Can't beat that can you?  skp
