A Story of Delicacy

Delicacy in flower form.

A Story of Delicacy

They met under the covers,
This couple in the night.
He and she barely touched,
But their subtle intensity
Was intoxicating.

With her fingers, she
Followed the lines of his life that
Were etched in his hands.
She spent a half a hour just on the
Right hand alone.
The touch lifted her.

Then she went to his left hand.  It
Too told his story.
She felt it in the hollow of his palm
And in the strength of his fingers.
She was reminded of what she
Already knew about him.

Their lips almost met,
Their bodies almost entwined,
But intentionally they did not.
Magnetism ensued.
Hands heeded the passion.
He responded
By placing her hand
Just where it needed to be.
She did the same.

Thank you, readers for the wonderful comments about my Christmas poetry.  Now, however,  it is time to change the tone.  I will reserve comment on this particular posting, because there are many ways to interpret it.  Let me know what you think.  Enjoy.  skp

An Afternoon Tea Served From a Bygone Era

PictureSee Sue's image in the goblet on the left.
On October 22, James and I hosted Gail Gastelu of the Tea House Times and her mother, Sue Baker for tea at our home in Oregon City. We presented an all Oregon Tea, because the two ladies are from New Jersey.  I also used my favorite tableware.

Here is a picture,  taken by Gail, of some of the glassware on the table. You will see the Fostoria which was my mother's.  Other serving pieces dated to the thirties and forties.  Also notice a few pieces of Wedgwood china.  Although an older pattern, the set is mine.  And then there are the crystal goblets 'liberated'  by James' father from a hotel in Belgium during World War II.

Notice the image of Sue Baker in the wine glass. An accidental photo, turned into a gorgeous  1940's style depiction.  Beauty is eternal.

Books and CDs For You to Enjoy

The company of Earlene Grey chose not to advertise this last Christmas season.  Although we have done so in the past, it just didn't seem right any longer.  Christmas often can turn into a frenzy of shopping, so we opted out.  We wanted to be true to our message.

As we move to the next year, remember the pleasure of reading a real book.  Remember the joy and insight of poetry written to be understood.  We have several books you may enjoy.   Please email, [email protected] or call 503-655-2809, if you need help deciding upon the right one.  😄

If you are interested in reading more of Earlene Grey literature, or buying our books, or have other questions, please go to www.EarleneGrey.com

A iight in the distance is sometimes all we have, but it may be all we need.

Emmanuel

Christmas is Christ time.
God is with us.
Emmanuel.

That the Spirit is here
To guide and to help
Is clear to me and to you.

Since this is so, let us not be troubled.
Nor be anxious, nor be fretful.
Ever.

Let go of worry. Have Christmas Tea.
Remember that God is with us.
Gloria.

Gloria.
Hallelujah.
And Hallelujah again.

This is the last Christmas poem that I will offer this year.  I thought that the last Christmas poem ought to get right to the point.

I hope that you find your message somewhere this Christmas, maybe in a poem, a song, or through a friend.  Best wishes for a blessed holiday season and a peaceful 2016.

Watch for the new edition of

Winter can be a resting time if you need it.

And I Will Blanket You

It is winter and time for hibernation.
Turn your back to the wind.
Lean low and feel the
Earth cooling,
Resting from delivery.
Another year will come and her
Returning warmth will waken us.
But right now, let us bide,
Lie down and slumber at her side.

Bonus time!   Two poems for the holiday.   Enjoy the winter if you can.  If not, try to keep your spirits up as the temperature goes down.   We here in Oregon of the United States have had the wettest December on record.   It is time for us to stay inside.

                                                                                  ☔︎

✦ All of my best wishes for our dedicated readers.  May the holiday season bring happiness and maybe even the beginnings of a peaceful world.  skp

Surely, It Is

Two leaders from two ancient religions, talking with respect. Can you name them?

Surely, It Is

It is Christ Mass time.
We throw rocks and worse.

Thousands of suns and moons
We have stood on this Earth.

Thousands of years to learn,
Yet still we kill and worse.

Is it not time?

Is it not time that we
Listen and hear
A higher call?

Is it not time that we
Find a better path?

That we speak
Even a civil tongue?

Some have already begun.
Is it not time
For all?

Yes, readers, I am still calling for us to become better beings.  I will post some love poems soon, and maybe even some silly poems, but right now is the time to think how we can improve how we conduct ourselves in this world.  skp

No Need for Counting

No Need for Counting

How many shoulders will it
Take for you to stand upon,
Until you can stand tall
On your own?
How many arms will it
Take to wrap around
Your frame until
You feel safe?
Pairs of eyes to keep guard
As you walk, lest you
Fall into the pit?
What about the hands needed
To reach down and
Pull you out of the pit?
Ears to listen to your cries for help
And to your stories of triumph?
How many pairs of legs will it
Take to walk with you
Until you are able to
Take the steps alone?
And when you are ready,
The heart to let you go?

As many as it takes.

▶ Christmas is exactly what you want it to be.    Earlene Grey

Picture Kitty in the tree is just too easy to resist.
Kitty’s Christmas Delight

We cannot celebrate with
Kitty in the tree! Get her down!
She will ruin the scene!

But wait…
See how cute she is and
What fun she will be!

Oh well, let’s just have tea,
Sit awhile and enjoy
Our kitty in the tree.

I couldn't resist putting this silly little poem in.  Who hasn't had a cat that didn't get into the tree...or at least think about it.  Ornaments  have dropped and trees have fallen.  Ah, but Christmas can be celebrated just as well.

Boy, how lucky we are to live in the Northwest. It doesn't get much better than this.

Best wishes and best efforts in this time of celebrating the peace we have in our world.  skp
