The Genesis of Change
She was about done.
Exhausted and laid low,
She had given so much.
She had let her blood
Into the open and waiting
Veins of the needy, and
Sometimes the greedy--
For years.
She had done as
The powerless before,
Thinking there was
Not a better choice.
She had attended to those
Who did not know
Her lot in life.
Not having recognized
Her capacity
Or faculty,
They did not listen.
But she guessed.
Probably she knew.
All she had to do
Was to make a move.
Something. Anything.
Manifest. Make it start.
And, by God,
To everyone’s amazement,
It did.

Audio and Author Comment-
I was challenged by what type of image to put with this poem. I have been advised not to put pictures in The Causerie, and I can see why. This poem has so very many interpretations, if I give the reader an image, then it may limit what the reader's understanding of the poem would be. There were several pictures to choose from, I finally decided on a woman who was self assured. skp
