And Thus, Shrinking Violets Arise
Ah, Spring, so short a visit, you give us
You don’t know whether to come or go.
You shine on us for a moment,
Your smile of brightness,
Then cry with Winter’s rain and
Shyly run under her clouded skirts.
Now, we beg you,
Come back to us until your baited sister,
Summer, fully warms us with her breath
And makes us to forgive
Your teasing and tiring timidness.
